Chainsaw Heat

I feel the heat from the sun on the side of my face

The heat from the fire warms my knees.

I hear the hum of the chainsaw two blocks over

Is that chainsaw cutting wood that will warm someone else's knees?

If I jump in the pool

And come back in front of the fire

Will it warm me from the late September water?

I feel warm until I stand on the edge of the water in just my bathing suit

The wind always seems to pick up now

And it causes me to hesitate in my countdown to jump in
